You're lucky, lucky, you're so lucky!!
Continuing a semi-regular thing here, I present this week's Friday commute jams:
The new Franz Ferdinand single, "Do You Want To" is fucking unreal. I simply cannot stop playing it. The crunchy, off-kilter beat, the lyrics, especially the opening line "When I woke up tonight I said I'm gonna make somebody love me"...uh, "woke up TONIGHT?"...and "your famous friend, well, I blew him before ya." I love it so much, I spent many hours thinking why, and I believe I now know the answer - it's Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging" as covered by the Cars. Don't take my word for it - check it out. Huge, I tell ya, huge.
It may seem to be a late or lame to say, but I still listen to both Strokes CDs quite a bit - say what you want about indie cred, their rich backgrounds, hype, etc., those discs are packed with 3:30 pop gems. The follow-up, "Room On Fire", took some getting used to, but "I Can't Win" is immediate and killer.
