Dissident

So, thanks to certain other blogs I write, I sometimes get e-mail from record company marketing people trying to "create a buzz" on blogs for their acts, often to the point of supplying a leak or .mp3 of an upcoming release, all in the hope of my posting it and spreading the word.

Last week, I got an e-mail from a Sony/BMG rep offering me an "unrestricted, free download" of Pearl Jam's new single (if you really want it, it's on their website, too). As I laughed and hit the delete key with glee, it occurred to me:

Pearl Jam have finally gotten to the point where they can't even GIVE THEIR MUSIC AWAY FOR FREE.

Nepalese Idiot

Mystery of vanished "Buddha Boy" grips Nepal

"The weekend disappearance of a Nepalese boy whom supporters hail as a reincarnation of the Buddha has sparked a nationwide search.

Supporters have showered 16-year old Ram Bahadur Bomjan with money and gifts for allegedly sitting in motionless meditation in the roots of a pipal tree without taking food or water, or using the toilet, since May 16 last year."

Uh, is it me, or is Buddha Boy there a dead ringer for Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong? He probably got tired of people shouting "LONGVIEWWWW! PLAY LONGVIEWWW!" at him.
