Radio Friendly Unit Shifter

11 years ago today, Kurt Cobain killed himself.

Amidst all the turmoil, pain, drugs and insanity around him, one thing people always seem to overlook is that, like Morrissey, another musician with a dark streak, Kurt had a wicked sense of humor. He showed it in some lyrics, some of his writings and most especially in certain interviews. Let's not forget the video for "In Bloom" with Wink Martindale and the band in skag drag.

Here's a quick interview done for MTV's "120 Minutes" back in 1994 on the eve of the release of "In Utero". Watch Kurt smile, laugh and be alive.

6.2MB QuickTime Movie, opens in new window.

Kurt killed himself a few years after one of my best friends from high school did. They were both alike in so many ways, but laughing and slinging serious wit are the ways I remember them both.
